Is this legal?
Yes. A reservation without a ticket is a standard industry product – airlines themselves offer fare holds. You submit a real booking made in your name; you do not submit a forged document.
Will the consulate accept it?
A reservation is the document consulates ask for as proof of onward travel. The decision is always theirs, and no service can influence it – but the booking is genuine, made in the airline's own reservation system, and verifiable through us at any time (see the next question).
Can I check the reservation myself?
Often not on the airline's website: most airlines only display reservations once a ticket is issued, so an unpaid booking is invisible there. That is normal airline behaviour, not a defect. The reliable way to verify is through us – send the booking reference to help@holdfare.com and we confirm the reservation, its route and its validity directly to you or to the authority asking.
Why not just renew a shorter reservation?
Because renewing means cancelling the old booking and creating a new one with a new reference. When a consulate checks weeks later, it looks up the number on the document you submitted – and that number no longer exists. We hold one single reference for the entire period you paid for, so the document you submit still checks out months later.
What if you cannot create the reservation?
You are refunded automatically, in full, within minutes. If a departure is too close for the airline to hold, the form tells you before you pay – never after.
Can I board the flight with it?
No. It is a reservation, not a ticket. No airline is paid, no seat is yours, and you cannot check in or board with it. To fly, buy a ticket separately.
Do I need a hotel reservation too?
Many consulates ask for one. You can hold a real hotel reservation with us for 7, 14 or 31 days – from €2.00 when held in one payment with your flight (20 % off). It is a genuine hold in the hotel's reservation system, verifiable like the flight.
Is a dummy ticket accepted for a Schengen visa?
Consulates increasingly reject edited or fake tickets. What they accept is a genuine booking reference (PNR) in your name. HoldFare creates exactly that – a real reservation in the airline's reservation system, held for 72 hours, 7 or 21 days, verifiable by the consulate at any time. It is the verifiable alternative to a risky dummy ticket.
How long does the booking reference stay valid?
You choose: 72 hours for €9.90, 7 days for €19.90 or 21 days for €49.90. The reference is held in the airline's reservation system for the whole period and can be verified at any time until the expiry date shown on your PDF itinerary. Hotel holds run for 7, 14 or 31 days.
What is proof of onward travel and why is it required?
Many countries require visitors to show that they intend to leave – an onward or return reservation. Airlines can deny boarding without it. A HoldFare hold is a real reservation in your name that satisfies this requirement without you having to buy an expensive refundable ticket upfront.
Do I need a hotel reservation too?
Some consulates ask for one. We hold hotel reservations too – 7, 14 or 31 days from €2,00 – and when you hold your flight with us, the hotel hold is 20 % off. See “Hotels” in the menu.
